Lee County Board of Elections members failed to adopt a unanimous early‑voting plan; the county submitted three alternative plans (one with Sunday voting) and the State Board of Elections will choose a plan because the county did not reach unanimous agreement. County elections director explained the process and concerns included poll worker fatigue and scheduling.

The elections director told the Cherokee County Board of Elections that staff completed risk-limiting and ballot-image audits of the June 16 runoff (8,633 ballots reviewed) and that machine counts matched hand counts. The director said a legislative committee will study election equipment and report by Jan. 31, 2027; board members and a public commenter raised concerns about QR codes, chain-of-custody, and the need for a practice emergency election.

County Auditor Jamie Fitzgerald described the new election office, said the 2026 budget will fluctuate with election-year costs, highlighted QR-code unofficial results reporting and suggested a decision package to raise poll-worker pay; county administration recommended approval of the budget.

A poll worker told the Erie County Elections Board about problems with poll-pad check-in, missing images in operator instructions and online training access. Elections staff reported 342 provisional ballots, 41 emergency ballots and 47 damaged ballots recreated, and said final canvassing and adjudication will begin the next day.

Elections and Recorder staff told the Board of Supervisors the county needs higher ELE‑1 sinking‑fund budgets for 2026 to cover anticipated record turnout, additional vote centers and higher poll‑worker pay; the Recorder will assume several early‑voting duties moved from Elections.
