Red Fire Orchids (Pyrorchis nigricans), loved working on this watercolour commission. These orchids usually only flower after a fire & they don't need pollination from other flowers to reproduce, amazing! #orchid #botanicalart #watercolour #botanicalpainting

I, a biologist, do my best to understand the connections among inflation, employment, interest rates, debt, and bond markets.

In my experience economists do not do the same with CO2 levels, ocean acidification, falling fish stocks, temperature, pollination failures, and resulting social conflict.
Scolding climate advocates for ignoring economic analysis is counterproductive: our analyses don’t capture the costs and benefits they care about. We should push for more cost-benefit thinking from a place of humility about what we can and can’t deliver: www.theargumentmag.com/p/what-econo...

Ours blooms several times a year but the bloom does only last 10hrs.

Amazing to smell too. These are clones, I need an outside one for pollination and fruit.

Date palm oases look timeless; modern growers still wrestle salinity, offshoots, and pollination labor. More on Agriculture ID.

Magnolia acuminata is the only North American native deciduous magnolia species that naturally carries yellow pigments in its blossoms. Because magnolias evolved before bees, their flowers are anatomically structured for pollination by beetles. #flowers #nature #biology #evolution

Cross-pollination of religions

Absolutely! That cross-pollination is a wonderful side effect

Some figs have evolved to rely on humans and done away with the fig wasp pollination altogether!

Agricultural management should prioritize integrated strategies that reduce pesticide pressure, enhance habitat, and support wild pollinator diversity to maintain resilient pollination services in intensive agroecosystems 🍯 🐝 🌼

'Both in Armenia and elsewhere, about 75% of ag crops depend on bee pollination…

At least 250,000 bee colonies are required to ensure full pollination of Armenia’s wild vegetation and cultivated plants. At the start of 2026, Armenia recorded 167,520 bee colonies, 11.4% fewer than a year earlier.'

I think it's ok as long as there isn't cross pollination, then it would feel redundant.

Hopefully he brings pollination to all the cool plants in your area.

Well at least some of em, since he is just one bee.

Well, you see...

The thing with boots. They're uh... a lot like tulips. They need pollination.

so i just assume there was parallel discourse here & there, and cross-pollination. I may be totally wrong.

Entomologist barging in: good news! Nearly all figs eaten by humans today* are from are parthenocarpic strains; that includes the ones that go into Fig Newtons. They do not need the wasps to make fruit.
(*Unless you are eating a Smyrna fig, which still needs pollination by wasps.)
