I had to look up polygonum; apparently it includes knotweed and knotgrass.

I know what this is. It's Japanese knotweed. Incredibly invasive. It will regrow from a tiny smidgen of root. I've all but eradicated it by hitting it with a blow torch after rain, as it'll heat the roots via water and steam them to death. www.ontarioinvasiveplants.ca/invasive-pla...
