The last part of the mask is the horn.
It is 16 cm long, and if it were made from a chunk of cast material, one side would weigh over 180 g. In total, it weighs 360 g, which is fatal for a mask.
The FRP with felt and polyol filler I used earlier only weighs 25g.

Uh coming from the org Chem 1001 side... is there something special about erythritol in this setup? Because nitration should work the same for any polyol? (Yeah and the results are also all variations on the same 💥 theme)

Fascinating new slant on biomolecular condensate formation, suggesting it can be under mechanical control. Stiffening of the extracellular matrix can promote conversion of glucose to sorbitol, which then acts as a crowding agent to promote aggregation and BC formation.

The pathology is complicated and not really the point, but it’s a combination of free radical damage via the polyol pathway, RAGE pathway, inflammation and other things).

There was a study in japan that should an a1c average around 3 yrs raised risk for peripheral neuropathy. So, that “why” is easy

Polyurethanes are made from 2 components – a polyol and a diisocyanate. Bio-based polyols are now commonplace, but now Algenesis has set up a pilot plant for its process to make bio-based diisocyanates, leading to fully bio-based and biodegradeable polyurethanes.
Algenesis cracks diisocyanate problem to make fully bio-based polyurethane
Process combines algal fermentation with flow chemistry and avoids hazardous phosgene

Excess sugar intake plays a key role in primary hypertension:
-Fructose from added sugars affects kidney function.
-This leads to blood vessel tightening.
-Over time, inflammation keeps vessels constricted.
-Result? Persistent high BP.

Salt amplifies this process.

That's polyurethane foam. Made by reacting a polyol, a diisocyanate and water. It releases CO2 as it solidifies. Probably the most widely used insulating material in the World.
