We're quietly defunding the infrastructure modern biology runs on. PomBase, FlyBase, HGNC. have faced, or facing, existential funding crises since 2024. Curation expertise, once lost, is difficult to rebuild.
Pascal has been a PomBase (@pombase.bsky.social) curator for just over 2 years where he has taken on community curation review, developed a series of outreach seminars, “Just One Thing”, and was lead author of the recent PomBase resource update.
