This is a great article. The bit about botnet portscanning is so true. My freshman year of college, the average time to infection on the university's ethernet was 7 seconds. You had to get antivirus on disk from someone else before you connected.

i dunno i see portscanning all over; like if you really wanna hide the fact you're running a service you should probably do some kind of port knocking setup but tbh that kind of thing is like sure maybe if you want to hide the fact *that* you're running eg ssh but otherwise the risk is the same
