Sunlight Cottages in Glasgow's Kelvingrove Park. Designed by James Miller for the 1901 International Exhibition, they're modelled on Arts and Crafts workers cottages from Port Sunlight in Cheshire.

I missed my train back from Port Sunlight a spent the time admiring The Tea Rooms opposite the station. Once the village post office, now a carefully stewarded piece of ‘forever England’. I particularly like the phone boxes.

Photograph using a monochrome filter taken looking up at the domed ceiling at the C19th Lady Lever Art Gallery in Port Sunlight. I usually post photographs of this where I've tried to get the dome central so there's a beautiful symmetry. However, thought I'd push myself to reconsider one I took which is offset so the fluted columns which support the structure feature too. It isn’t a restful framing for me but it is interesting. On the left stretching into frame from the top and bottom corners are huge, vertically-ridged columns appearing out of the darkness to support the curved edge of the dome. The right 2/3 of the frame is a portion of the beautiful circular glass dome. It is intersected by eight huge cream arms with two circular cream ripples stemming out from the centre. The real magic is the glass between with fancy black leading in checks and circle patterns. In real life this glass has a beautiful turquoise hue. Port Sunlight village and the Lady Lever Art Gallery are both well worth a visit. A real jewel in the Wirral peninsula's crown. Ness Botanical Gardens is not far away, nor is an amazing lighthouse, beaches, and across the water Liverpool.

Close up of a vintage dress at the Bedazzled exhibition at Lady Lever Art Gallery in Port Sunlight, Liverpool. Symmetrical pattern of what looks very loosely like tree rings (huge amounts of artistic license in that description!) in tiny seed pearls and bronze beads. The pattern is intersected horizontally by a straight waistband in a different design with larger pearls. There is a vertical intersection too, which is two straight lines of pearls edged by tiny bronze beads. Must be incredibly heavy to wear!
