My shiny silver streamliner set No. 1464w from 1951! This set was also available in 1950 in yellow and gray, and 1952-53 without gray roofs and with the engines renumbered to 2033.

I still can’t believe the deal I managed to get on this. It absolutely lives up to its reputation as “The Growler”. Those twin motors have a very distinct snarl that really compliments the engine’s power!

It’s kind of nuts just how much prices for non-mint postwar Lionel have fallen in recent years. A decade ago I could have never imagined picking these up at the prices I have. They’re a great value if you learn how to fix ‘em.

Leading the set is a 2035 (modeled after the Pennsylvania K4) and its 6466W tender. Its consist includes the 3464 Boxcar, 6465 Tank Car, 3472 Milk Car, 6462 Gondola, and 6357 Caboose.
