Composting is a fantastic way to recycle your garden and kitchen waste, creating nutrient-rich material for your plants. You’ve put in the effort, turning your scraps into a hot, crumbly mulch – but what next?

I expected biochar to hold water well, but I didn’t expect it to completely revolutionize how the potting mix accepts moisture! #biochar #peat-free #pottingmix 🌿

Yes, and this! Everywhere you look, potting soil ingredients include peat. If you are someone who doesn’t want to use peat, it can be hard to find alternative options! Asking for peat-free is a solid way to increase stocking of alternatives mixes in stores #peatfree #pottingmix

The old rusted out trampoline is gone.
Was looking good on top so was a plan to give it to a nearby girl guide group but when I turned it over found rust on lots of important anchor points. Did not want to dump that on them.
With all my used pottingmix plan is now a vege garden there this season.🌱🇳🇿🪴

If she's in the original #pottingmix, it's a good idea to replace it with a GOOD #chunkymix. You can presoak your mix too - just not too wet. When untangling roots, I love to use chopsticks. They let you poke at, loosen the old mix & untangle roots. Remember to use pots with good drainage holes.

If you don’t feel like mixing your own potting media, I get it! I’m starting a push to try different peat-free, coir-free mixes that are available in stores, so that I can (hopefully) make recommendations. I’ll let you know how this one works! 🌿 🌰 #peatfree #coirfree #pottingmix #potting

Potting soil almost killed this man. I never knew we should wear a mask when dealing with it (and other soils that we buy).

I was reminded at a Farmer’s Forum that some folks may not be aware of where peat comes from, or why we might want to use alternatives. So if you are new to this idea or new to our nursery, we are peat-free in order to support healthy wetlands! 🌿🌰 #peatfree #pottingmix #wetlands
