Poughkeepsie is one of my standard "obcurely distant place" references, as in "knocked him clear to Pougkeepsie." it's farther away than Burlington, Vermont, but not as far as Denver.

Everything affordable is hot, hot, hot. Moved to Minnesota because of the snow/cold and didn't know about the summers. But our spring and fall seasons are just stunningly beautiful & uplifting.
I did almost move to Pougkeepsie, btw. Met a guy in the 90's & almost moved there, ha! Humid summers
