Six ounces of iron. Five different metals. And on the surface, bugs. A tsuba is the hand guard on a Japanese sword. It sits between the blade and the grip, protecting the fingers. Most are decorated with warriors, dragons, mountain scenes. This one from mid-18th century Japan is covered in insects.

A yoga mat rests on a wooden floor, rolled up and secured by two ends of my handwoven multicolor inkle strap with slider buckles, and an adjustable belt buckle rejoining that makes an over-the-shoulder carrier of the whole.
