Simple because people vote for the wrong people. They either vote party line, listen to negative advertising and believe it or they do no research (preemployment background check) and just listen to whatever they say and believe them because they sound truthful at their level.

I had a titer drawn at age 55 as part of a preemployment physical. My titer was too low and I needed a booster. Very thankful I found out. Older folks should really be checked.
