I agree, it is a fantastic preprint, a simple starting experiment then taken to the next level!
Joanna gave a keynote today at ASBMB Txn and Chromatin meeting, speaking about this recent preprint. The talk was AMAZING and this is exceptionally cool preprint. So people in NYC should see this upcoming talk!! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

📢 New preprint! How does anthropogenic noise affect bird fitness?

We synthesised 535 effect sizes from 53 experimental studies covering 45 bird species to investigate whether noise has consequences for wildlife fitness.

1/ 🧵 In 2025, EV-D68 did something unusual in Europe: most detected cases weren’t children, but adults, and one subclade, A2/D, took over! 🌍

New (to you?) preprint alert!
Can protein-coding mRNAs "moonlight" as nuclear-architectural RNAs? 🧬

Our revised preprint uncovers how nascent TTN RNA organizes a specialized nuclear compartment in cardiac cells—and how its disruption may contribute to heart disease.

A thread! 🧵👇

New preprint from our lab at NIH! #KIF1A has been known for decades, but its role in axonal lysosomal vesicle transport was unclear. We show it is essential—and reveal a selective gate controlling which lysosomal vesicles enter mature axons.

New lab preprint alert: Every wonder how SARS-CoV-2 shuts down host gene expression when it infects a cell? To help answer this question, we imaged the dynamics of this process live, at the single mRNA level.

Ever wonder how a bird in a flock decides where to fly? We had the same question for moving cells, but you can’t just ask birds (or cells) to change their decision-making rules to see what changes...

What drives T-DNA integration? We couldn’t get a convincing answer with existing tools, so we built one!

Our new preprint introduces a synthetic biology approach to tracking T-DNA delivery and integration in plants 🌱 www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6... (1/7)

What happens when proteins fail to enter ER through Sec61? Our new preprint reveals that cells triage orphaned proteins based on thermodynamic stability. Stable proteins are N-terminally trimmed, protecting them from the proteasome and saving degradation for the most aggregation-prone proteins 1/6
