It depends on who's talking. Because I want my characters to feel as realistic as possible. Of course, there's going to be some witty commentary or jokes cracked intentionally or not. I very much welcome a good joke in my writing!

For Sythe Series, writing is riding around in Rarkin's head hearing his thoughts & seeing through his eyes. I perceive scenes via his insecurities, doubts & tendency to wall people out

I decide some traits, but my chars wander into scenes mostly formed. If not; writing them does it.

Definitely plot comes to me first as a writer. Before drafting I know the broader epic fantasy conflict, the parties involved and roles key individual will play. But I won't know who those individuals are, or how they'll play out their roles, until I start throwing them in fires.

It can be anything, something I read, a conversation, music, scenery... I don't control these. A scene then appears with my characters and we're off onto a fully pantsed adventure together.

Day 8: Stay away from writing "advice" and "gurus". (including these ones below if they don't fit what you're doing) ❤️
Stay true to your characters, their stories, your style. Don't let anyone tell you that "you suck". Write your stories out of your blood and soul.
Day 9: indies❤️

I start every book with the first scene which appears in my head like a movie scene, and from then on, it's pure pantsing, following my characters and scribing their movie/story down.
Whether you've never done a writer's panel, or done a fair few, it's good to think about what you might be asked, and how you would answer. This is #pretendpanel, a prompt tag for all interested writers.
