I decided to do a partial speed-watch of #PrincessAgents to remind myself of the characters in #Rebirth - & was reminded of what a brutal fictional world it’s set in 😭
The traumatic slave hunt at the start is so harsh 😭 - but Zhao Liying & Lin Gengxin are compelling as the leads

The lead character is young in the first part too - & in #PrincessAgents Huangyang Tiantian (the FL in #Rebirth) was cast as the child version of Zhao Liying’s FL, which is why they’ve retained her

It probably also helped that I liked the chemistry between ML and FL from #PrincessAgents already. I breezed through any less-great parts on the strength of trusting that chemistry.

For serious chemistry in a much older, and somewhat flawed show, I’d maybe suggest #PrincessAgents. It’s kind of a classic and I rec it - just with caveats. @jamesdmac.bsky.social has views on this one too.

While she lacks the presence of Zhao Liying, she does a reasonable job imo (given her relative inexperience)
