How many econ professors are going to publish OpEds about how the secret is to find people you respect on the other side before we just all agree that is a useless profession and no one should be listening to them?

90% of the time something AI related is announced, it is advertised as the death of a profession in artist related spaces. That's exactly what happens when you see art or the ability to express via art as an asset and not a skill.

I made an edit of my playing old school runescape if anyone wants to see it. I'm working on video editing bc it's the only thing vaguely related to my profession that I actually still enjoy

If you believe that a random fast-food worker should be a teacher or can be a teacher, you're tacitly saying teachers should be paid the same wage as a fast-food worker (whatever that is) and are signaling your low expectations. It's hurting the profession it's pretending to advocate for.

Shouldn't we expect people at the apex of their profession to have enough self-esteem that they don't take this discourse as personal attacks? 😕

"Computer Programmer at work."

Possibly a profession that, in history, will only have lasted 1 human life-time.

It's possible that in 2030, only computers program computers professionally, if Claude's progression is anything to go by.

Gone, the way of the switchboard operators and typesetters.

Ctrl+Alt+Art in Dole, France.

Visit it if you can. It is simply magnificent to see our profession represented in such a setting—with such attention to detail and such respect—on a par with other forms of art, both historical and contemporary, within the museum.
Es war so toll! Sowas müsste es echt öfter geben, ein fantastischer Rahmen für die Videospielkunst 🤗

In law schools? It’s probably fine—most of our adjuncts are attorneys teaching out of a sense of giving back to the profession.

Other adjuncts? Probably significantly underpaid.

I said in my previous post "why not just go to Nevada?" Then I googled it. YIKES! Prostitution is the oldest profession. You think by now we'd be better at it. Women who choose this vocation should be treated way better than this! Prostitution should be legal & regulated w/FREE HEALTH CARE! DAMMIT!

Before we go too far, let me give you some context for my profession as a hospice chaplain.

First, it's common to think of hospice as *a* hospice, a facility where people go in the last days of their lives. That's where my father and father-in-law died, for instance.

So, then. Due to my profession (and my wife teaching) I've been asked to speak to a class on Positive Psychology about "Hope and Optimism at the End of Life."

Guess who gets a preview of my talk in the following thread? That's right, shut up and sit down, you do, you lucky ducks!
