Cape Cod Bay at sunset, October 12, 2026. Closest to the camera you can see the seashells and sea detritus of mid-tide. The water fades into a pale blue, which fades into a pale pink to the horizon, where the pink deepens but is still soft. That pink fades to peach and then to pale blue and then to a soft blue at the top of the image. A sailboat is moored off center of the image to the right, sail visible. A seagull is flying low, just above the water, and is reflected in the water to the left. Peace.

A “mandala” I created alongside youth group members. Inspired by James 1:17, and God’s “perfect gifts from above,” we were charged with painting something we love. My love was color. The mandala begins with dots/ circles of color within a larger circle, and continues with various wobbly designs in the colors purple, red, green, yellow, blue, and orange. Outside the mandala, which is on a 10” square canvas, I painted the corners blue (left) and purple (right).
