Modchip, ezpz psnee install from what I hear.
This is a custom board that runs the Psnee modchip firmware. Psnee runs on any old arduino nano but I wanted something super tiny that could be easily hidden inside the console. This is about 1/4 the size of a nano

snuck this one in before the tariffs hit. I made a tiny PSNee compatible modchip for the PS1. Existing boards and solutions were a bit to big for my liking. Wanted something super easy to hide away in the console's case

For what it's worth the PSNee was insanely easy aside from making sure the wires weren't a *total* mess, and the chip itself seems to be an almost 100% success rate

Yeah I have a PS1 I got as-is and the only issue is that the drive was *starting* to go out. I got a replacement for like $25 or something (kinda wanted an ODE, but I wanted to keep playing discs) and now it's perfectly fine

Removed old mod chip and replaced it with a PsNee. Messed up one of the pads on the chip board so I had to wire one of them directly to the chip. It works but the laser need calibration.

seconding the last part, after following his guide on how to build a GBS-Control, i've since modded my ps1 with a psnee chip and gave it (15khz)vga output, built a keyboard, a couple of guitar hero controllers, and more purely out of "bet i could do that".
This was the first time I had really fixed something with soldering (the rest had been one off practice projects from hobby kits). It really made me feel like I could actually do it.
@voultar.com is a large influence on that with the huge number of “how to” videos and guidance he’s posted.
