#Psyllidae
I found some Psyllid nymphs on Mistletoe (on an Apple tree) in our garden. I've kept an eye on them and today found the first adults. Almost certainly Cacopsylla visci which appears to be uncommon and possibly the first Devon record.
It's not even the rarest insect found on our garden apple tree.

Every single day Nature amazes me. SMALL: a stunning metallic-green fly Poecilobothrus nobilitatus. Even SMALLER: one of the Psyllidae, probably Cacopsylla ambigua. And sitting next to it, TINY: a species of gall midge, from the Cecidomyiidae family, I think.

Truly as “snug as a bug in a rug.”

A Psyllidae, a Hemiptera -True Bug- and informally known as Jumping Plant Lice, on the Spring fuzz of a pussy willow (Salix) catkin.

Other #NorfolkPsyllids to look for include Rhinocola aceris on Field Maple (www.britishbugs.org.uk/homoptera/Ps...) (old records only), Trioza vitreoradiata on Pittosporum (www.britishbugs.org.uk/homoptera/Ps...) (only a few records) and Acizzia uncatoides on Acacia and Albizia (1 record).

Pachypsylla sp. on hackberry, likely P. celtidisvesicula. So small the hackberry’s trichomes look like giant hairs next to them. Some people prefer to call them Jumping Plant Lice. I think we should just call them JPL.

Arytaina genistae sticks to Cytisus (brooms). Psyllids are usually highly host specific. True host-plants support development from immature to adult. Others may just be shelter, food, or casual stops. Host switching is rare, and mostly near close plant relatives. 🌿

The Triozidae used to be considered part of the Psyllidae, but recent taxonomy work has greatly re-organised these small plant-sucking insects. Some are serious plant pests.
