Re-reading Lords and Ladies atm. It occurred to me that Elves are Republicans.
1. They think they're better than everyone
2. They enjoy toying with us
3. They take everything
4. They leave fear

Sure love it when Sir pTerry does the metaphor thing 😁

I can understand that jokes about taunting Thor during thunderstorms are funny. Specifically linking me to a quote about standing in a thunderstorm in copper armour and shouting 'Thor is a cunt' makes me very uncomfy, even if it is a quote from Pterry, and I wonder why people think it's OK.

Thud! by @terryandrob.bsky.social gets a much firmer recommendation. It's Pterry. It's his prime period. You deserve it.

Sir Pterry was so real for this.
Susan is also being forced to read Wordsworth's "I wandered lonely as a cloud," which is both one of the greatest poems ever written and also one that people hate.

The problem with this is, of course, that the lovely folx who person charity shops, are very often the same people who also like pTerry things and … I’m going to be doing a lot of asking nicely in the future, I suspect.

US influence?

I remember back in the day the difference between the UK and US covers. And how the US kept trying to change the content and PTerry kicking back and refused to stand down.

None of the three witches are pterry. I know this because I knew all three of the people who actually served as the inspirations

I can’t imagine Pterry approving it

@Pterry Ziel erreicht 🥳😎

@Pterry ungefähr 7. Ist allerdings leicht mit "steht dir, solltest du öfters tragen" zu kontern, wenn es dem Gegenüber um verbales raufen geht.

@Pterry @drehumdiebolzen ooooh Geckos? Darauf könnte ich mich einlassen. Einen Sonnentau hab ich sogar, aber der krepelt so vor sich hin. Mit dem feucht halten das klappt nicht so gut bei mir, zumindest nicht auf Dauer.

Have her draw you a platypus! (PTerry Pratchett joke - LAST CONTINENT)
September 26, 2026 at 9:45 AM
Yeah, true, although what keeps getting lost in conversation around that is there was a difference between Terry's ending (the Morecambe and Wise style bed scene) and Rob's ending for GO3 which was presumably his attempt to reconcile PTerry and NG's visions, idk

WIP is now around 4300 words. Calling it a night, though. I have a date with Sir Pterry and a modest glass of wine before sleeping. It's my reward for clocking in 1.5 months of writing every day.

Pterry did at least seem to know when to let a character fade away. Rincewind does show up occasionally later but only as a cameo, he's not given any importance (which is appropriate). William de Worde didn't need to appear in Moist's books because Moist is kinda the same tool but better.

Rincewind is courageous when it counts; but I'm not sure we should call it heroic. Pterry had a cynical view of heroism.

"She hadn't said 'You hero!' In the tone of voice of 'You star'; it had been the tone in which people say 'You idiot.' [Thief of Time]

I know pterry said Nation was his best book but gosh Going Postal is a barn burner.

GNU Sir Pterry. 💔
September 25, 2026 at 2:08 AM
"because, at that point, the bar closed" is possibly the closest PTerry got to Douglas Adams style in his writing.
September 23, 2026 at 6:32 PM
Here are the top five *authors* in that time period. pterry is *way* up there because he has so many books, and bunches of them go on sale once or twice a year.

I sometimes wonder how much pterry influenced ebook footnote capabilities...

Breadcrumb for my future self:

NOW YOU'VE SAID THIS I'LL NEVER UNSEE IT. He'd be a fantastic character in a pTerry book asdfghjkl

@Pterry Man darf nur noch 2 Links pro Monat posten? WTF?
