Am I hearing this right? - GB Energy wld build its own set of pylons in competition with National Grid?
This is bonkers - National Grid is a private entity which cld b regulated 2 ensure offshore wind is brought ashore faster.
We don't need more pylons/underground cabling, surely? 🤔

There were also at least a dozen Chiffchaffs on site (some singing), a Blackcap, and a Cetti's Warbler (singing) by the river.

I like to go for the lower pylons. Ops can't get a decent tractor lock and the reactor provides some funky lighting. Very cozy.

If the government ends up overpaying by a billion for some pylons and substations and in return learns how to fix its planning regime that’s a huge victory.

Think national grid is actually a world class expert in building grids and not responsible for any of the problems. Its US arm is steadily out competing every US grid operator. Almost every actual delay appears to be some version of ‘the council hates pylons’.

This needs to happen if we are going to succeed in switching to renewables and reduce energy costs. The grid is essential.

I was trying to stretch my blanket between the upper pylons to make a giant pillow fort in space, but Ops keeps ripping it down with tractorbeams, calling my fort a "hazard to navigation for incoming freighters", whatever that means.

Many homes there are on pylons... if you lift them up you get much cheaper insurance.
For the people who don't have lifted homes, I assume they are just paying for fixes. Doesn't seem sustainable but it sure is nice to live on the water.

Many homes there are on pylons... if you lift them up you get much cheaper insurance.
