Compound eye and ocelli of a moth (Pyralidae) A chance discovery through photography. I didn’t know that some butterflies/moths have ocelli. They probably serve to detect brightness and perceive light intensity.

#ElkeDagEenInsect. De Prachtmot is een nachtvlinder uit de familie Pyralidae, de snuitmotten. Waardplanten: gewone rolklaver, witte klaver, stalkruid, paardenhoefklaver en rupsklaver.
