#Pyrazine
🧪 Simplicity engineered for magnetism 🧲

📢 Preprint: Cr(pyrazine)₃ - maybe the simplest MOF with potential voids known. Built from Cr(III) + radical pyrazine linkers, this perovskite analogue shows magnetic interactions rivaling the strongest known in inorganic materials, stabilizing order above RT.

Okay, #ChemSky, I need some help. Is pyrazine pronounced more like pie-razine or like peer-azine??

🎉 Delighted to see our recent work on Cr(pyrazine)3 featured on the cover of this month's Nature Chemistry issue!

Thats the Asian variety that uses Pyrazine. The native variety may be perfectly fine. Taste test it.

I am a great fan of Fer Servadou in Marcillac and elsewhere. However, in the San Juan Bautista area, it is just a pyrazine extract. Maybe suitable for inclusion in a recipe for pickled beets.

👋 Our new paper in @natchem.nature.com shows a molecular ferrimagnet that produces almost no external magnetic field and persists well above room temperature.🧲🌡️
Cr(pyrazine)₃ is a simple metal-organic framework with magnetic interactions comparable to the strongest known in inorganic materials.

Lunch at Les Antiquaires in Perpignan today. I took advantage of the fact they had wines outside the area and ordered this Pinot Noir from the Loire Valley. Very soft tannins, typical PN taste though with some pyrazine (green bell pepper) in the finish.

New preprint! 🧲🥵

Mo(pyrazine)₃ is a crystallographically well-defined molecular magnet showing nearly compensated ferrimagnetism and magnetic hysteresis up to at least 625 K (352 °C), before the framework itself begins to degrade.

3-Isobutyl-2-Methoxypyrazine (IBMP) (2-methoxy-3-(2-methylpropyl)pyrazine) is an almost unavoidable but invariably detectable component in Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon wines ... as creating the green bell pepper, pea, or asparagus aromas, with an astonishingly low detection threshold.

#Bioproducts don’t start on store shelves, they start in the lab. At #Biopyrania, we're advancing #BioBased chemistry by developing pyrazine monomers from woody biomass.
Because enabling tomorrow’s bioproducts means rethinking chemistry today.

fun fact: the pyrazine compound that gives green bell peppers their characteristic smell is one of the most potent such compounds in nature - it's detectable at levels of just a few parts per *trillion*

Excited to share a latest preprint on an ytterbium-pyrazine square! In this work, we provide evidence of charge transfer from Yb(II) to pyrazine, supported by a range of techniques.
Notably, this complex also shows solvent-dependent reversible electron transfer.

Very happy to share with you our latest work on how solvation affects the electronic dynamics of pyrazine, using a water-window HHG source and high-level theory. This work is the result of a great collaboration between experiment and theory.
To future endeavors! 😁

The chemistry of the classical uranium(III) complex [U(N′′)3] (N′′ = {N(SiMe3)2}–) is well-developed, but there have been surprisingly few studies of its reactivity towards N-heterocycles. Here we report the separate reactions of [U(N′′)3] with pyrazine, ...
