The first-known #pyroCb in South Korea happened this morning (UTC) on a large fire near Uiseong. PyroCb are wildfire driven thunderstorms that can act like chimneys and transport smoke into the upper troposphere/lower stratosphere. H/T to the pyroCb community/email thread for catching this!

Another day and another pyrocumulonimbus (Pyrocb - fire generated thunderstorm) in Canada. Today, the pyrocb is in the NWT. GOES-West geocolor loop below. South of Great Bear Lake there are some pyrocu to the west side and in the center with the pyrocb on the east side.

Esto no lo vi ayer. Resulta que el #IFPinofranqueado sí llegó a formar un pirocumulonimbus #PyroCb (sin yunque, lo que me hizo dudar) de 12 km de altura con descarga de rayos: el comportamiento más extremo que puede tener un IF en nuestro planeta, algo que no se ha empezado a ver en la península
