Captured these stunning patterns created by #bioluminescent beetle larvae (likely from the tribe #Pyrophorini) using long time exposure. We found these tiny larvae (~1cm) on the ground in the rainforest while we were catching bats in the #Soberanía National Park! 🦇🐛🌴

No, only members of tribe Pyrophorini can produce light. No light-producing organs in tribe Semiotini.

Well, I knew about click beetles or so I thought apparently some of them are actually actually bioluminescent.. I did not know that… now I do “Deilelater is a genus of click beetles in the family Elateridae. They are one of several genera in the tribe Pyrophorini, all of which are bioluminescent”
