The Cleveland Browns are navigating a competitive quarterback race between veteran Deshaun Watson and rookie Shedeur Sanders. Coach Todd Monken emphasized that both players will receive balanced opportunities to showcase their skills, with Sanders set to start the upcoming game against Buffalo while Watson will see limited action. Watson, returning after 22 months, demonstrated solid performance with a 98.2 passer rating, leading the Browns to a field goal and touchdown. Sanders, though struggling with turnovers, showed improvement during offseason workouts. Monken highlighted Sanders's progress in pocket movement and decision-making, while acknowledging his need to avoid costly mistakes. The race reflects the team's strategy to evaluate both players' readiness for the season opener, balancing experience with potential for growth.
