For #DramaJoyChallenge Day 4 , someone said "historicals don't have bicycles" - to which #kDrama #QueenInHyunsMan replies "HOLD MY SOMAEK"

If you haven't seen #kDrama #QueenInHyunsMan I would seriously recommend trying Tubi via a VPN, worth a shot.

I couldn't find a decent resolution clip online, but for me definitely the bicicycle scene in #kDrama #QueenInHyunsMan

My contrarian tastes & opinions on #cDrama & #kDrama & my focus on #jDrama means I mostly sit on my hands in silence, so this is a GREAT gift.

Day 1: OST
I'm a bit less musical than a dead fish, but I love the OST for #kDrama #QueenInHyunsMan

I always love seeing the straw/bamboo hats. It's interesting seeing how they differ in design, color and material between the different countries as well.

Day 15: Time Travel Drama
HEAs in time-travel #cDrama forbidden, so nope. #kDrama #QueenInHyunsMan a close 2nd but my favourite is #twDrama #LoveTimeless - I watched several times for the arc of the SECOND pair. Real growth for both😍

I enjoyed #QueenInHyunsMan a lot as an early K-drama watch. I wonder how I’d feel about it now that I’m more of a veteran. Hmm. 🤔

The standouts for me from the set, #kDrama #SpiritFingers and #QueenInHyunsMan - which I recently finished watching for the FOURTH time. I have no idea why MDL changed its listed name, the URL for its page still calls it that, as here

Since time travel is utter nonsense (Doc Brown excepted), if a TT story includes romance, imo writers should acknowledge the futility of trying for 'logic' and just give viewers an HEA. #kDrama #QueenInHyunsMan did that, as did 2 very different #twDrama - #BackTo1989 and #SomedayOrOneDay

2/n show a male character who accepts, embraces and supports the independent existence of his beloved. Chajummah in #kDrama #CityHall is a great example, as is the ML in #QueenInHyunsMan and the late & much-lamented LSK's character in #MissKorea - which also has a GREAT example in the STP. So,

The first example of that was #LoveThroughAMillennium which managed to make it feel like it ran for that long. It was a remake of the #kDrama time travel romance #QueenInHyunsMan which ended well. The #cDrama version LITERALLY drowned the lead at the end. 50% longer runtime r for THAT? 🤬

#QueenInhyunsMan (2012) is a well-paced time-travel romance that stood up fairly well 8 yrs later. The epic romance packs a tight plotline in 45-minute eps, and the real-life main lead couple is swoony & adorable. Not a fan of the last-minute plot device, but still a good watch.

Musing on the rarity of non-patronising MLs in #Cdrama made me think of an outstanding example of that rare breed in the #kDrama #QueenInHyunsMan A warrior-scholar undeniably more intelligent & skilled than the FL, he never once talked down to her (except literally😆)

Drama Recs Challenge Day 23

SO MANY candidates for "legendary kiss" have been tainted for me by IRL evil from the ML that I've gone back to one that's still 'safe' - the tiptoe kiss from #KDrama #QueenInHyunsMan The climactic kiss from #MyOnlyLoveStory a close 2nd

Drama Recs Challenge Day 24

For the penultimate #DramaRecsChallenge "A Time Travel Tale", I went with a #TWDrama , "Love, Timeless" over some great #KDrama and #JDrama choices like #QueenInHyunsMan and #NobunagaConcerto The reasons are in the screenshot
An image of a calendar, challenging the person posting it to mention an East Asian Drama each day that meets the listed criterion for that day. Day 24 is "a Time Travel Tale" Poster for the Taiwanese Drama "Love, Timeless" showing the title in English and Hanzi characters at the bottom, below a spirally repeating clock with the core cast positioned at various points on the clock A block of text, as follows: Probably not too many people have seen this time travel drama but even though I only scored it 7.5 out of 10 I've watched it five times and what makes it special is that each time after the first, I watched it for the SECOND pair. it's a Groundhog Day kind of a story, with key characters travelling back in time repeatedly to try to stop something happening. What makes it so special for me is the amount of personal growth of each of the second leads in the three or four times that they relive their lives, each of them grows as a person, leading to a very, very satisfying conclusion at the end. Their story, their arc, their personal growth was much more satisfying for me than the OTP, elements of which I still found problematic every time, and tended to skip over each of the times that I rewatched this drama.

Learned the leads in #QueenInhyunsMan fell in love during filming and remained a couple for two years after. So the googly eyes and silly smile the ML has are real! (The ML is apparently considered one of the best bc he was kind, smart, decent, disciplined, etc.)
