Este monolito, que se encuentra en el Parque Arqueológico Quiriguá en el Departamento de Izabal en Guatemala, está tallado en arenisca y representa al último gobernate de Quiriguá llamado Kahk' Jol Chan Yapaat.

So we checked excavation reports from two archaeological Maya sites on the fault, Mixco Viejo and Quirigua. They describe collapsed buildings, periods of intense repairs, building reinforcements, and societal changes... This helped to narrow down the earthquake timing.

30 years later a farmer found the other half of the rock and confirmed that couple's guess: yes, the date was September 3, 32 BC!

But here's the absolutely chilling part: the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar was so damn good that we can look at that date and know it meant September 3, 32 BC.
