*some* games have mod loader support on Linux, r2modman works great for stuff like Peak, Lethal Company, and more - but everything else is a headache. You *can* get used to it, "open file location" in Steam is your best friend, but even then sometimes you really gotta get your hands dirty.
introduced my morrowind-modding gf to linux via steam machine and asked if she could help me get a few mods going in skyrim, and it's been nothing but nonstop "hunghhh. god. ughhh. what the fuck" for the past 90 minutes

The Hook Line and Sinker dev abandoned the software and deleted the Discord server.
If you want to mod your Webfishing game, I highly recommend R2modman instead of HLS. It gives better descriptions for mods, and screenshots. Plus other games are supported.

by that i mean
1. steam mistakenly thinks i run original ultrakill and im scared that it will upload false information into the cloud
2. AngryEnvy uses maps stored in the
r2modman (appdata) and i don't really like it
