We had a meta analysis under review & rereview for about 1.5 years. The paper was finally rejected with reasoning that our search was almost 2 years old.. 🙄
Great, matches my current (and past) experience with some high-ranking journals. It’s system failure.
Great piece on how publication delays negatively impact careers and the pace of science.
We just had a reviewer ask us why it's taken us so long to publish our data. It was because 2 other journals dragged review out for months and months only to reject it.

Turns out I should have hesitated. I didn’t review it before and now I’m reviewing the revised version of a manuscript I’ve never seen before. What if I have completely new comments?

i have a letter from them admitting every single criticism i made was correct and they need to rereview my cases, so i was wondering how theyd throw up roadblocks next. the answer appears to be "pretend we are dumber than rocks and cant do the most basic of tasks correctly"

Agreed…but editors too frequently ask reviewers to review papers that don’t need to be, that the editor has the expertise to make a decision on themselves.
Rereview requests should only be for cases where the editor lacks the necessary specialized expertise to judge the changes IMO

I suspect the finer detail will end up being something along the lines of that there’s a mandatory period of time that needs to elapse until they will rereview.

How do you call that period (that comes up once or twice a year) when you rereview all your game balance formulas to try and find that THEORY OF EVERYTHING that makes all the numbers work together?

I do feel like it’s missing something in the background department and has blocks of empty space, but it will have a lot of text over the top those spaces sooo this is something for me to rereview in a week or so when I’ve slept a bit lmao

Finished rewatching Episode 1.
Still a pretty good premiere episode. I noticed a few hiccups in pacing here and there, but still a good episode. Also Frohicky is adorable what the mech. After rereview, 7.5/10.
