RIEnergy kinda nerfed the system we put on at the house in Providence but it’s still been dramatically better. Most months we under-generate a bit.

If you need to report a power outage today you can do it at RIEnergy.com/outage or call RIE’s Contact Center at 1-855-743-1101. RIEnergy does not know there are outages if they are not reported.

Very interesting visit to the RiEnergy ESCO SRL #anaerobicdigestion plant to conclude the #CIRAGRO summer school in Naples. The plant generates #biogas (500 m3/h) and high-value #biofertilizer (50,000 tons/y) from some of the #manure produced by the ~350,000 #buffalos in the area.

For some reason, Trump said his tariffs would bring costs down for Americans. But the data shows what you already know: Americans are bearing 96% of the tariff burden. That's $200 billion coming straight out of our pockets because of him.

Rhode Island Energy wants to hike gas and electric rates by 2026 to fund $230M in upgrades. Better pipes, fewer outages, maybe a slick app. But are higher bills worth it? What do you think, Ocean State? #RIEnergy #RhodeIsland #UtilityRates
Rhode Island Energy Proposes Rate Increase to Fund Infrastructure Upgrades Starting 2026
Rhode Island Energy has submitted a new rate proposal that would increase gas and electric bills starting September 2026 if approved. The utility seeks to generate an additional $230 million over two years to fund infrastructure upgrades, modernize the system, reduce outages, replace leak-prone pipes, and enhance customer service, including a new mobile app. The proposal also includes additional offerings for low-income customers.

Rhode Island Energy just filed for rate hikes—$7.75 more a month for electric, $340 a year for gas. Says it’s for infrastructure and service. Thoughts on balancing costs vs. reliability? #RIEnergy #RhodeIsland #UtilityRates
Rhode Island Energy Files for Gas and Electricity Rate Increases to Support Infrastructure and Service Costs
On November 26, 2025, Rhode Island Energy President Greg Cornett announced that the company filed with the Public Utilities Commission for its first base distribution rate review since 2017. The proposed rate increases aim to address rising costs due to inflation, supply chain challenges, and regulatory requirements, ensuring the continued provision of safe and reliable gas and electricity service. The proposal includes an increase of about $7.75 per month for a typical residential electric customer and approximately $340 annually for gas customers. Additionally, the filing proposes significant changes to the low-income discount rate program to provide relief for economically challenged Rhode Islanders. This filing initiates a nine-month regulatory review process and reflects the company's efforts to manage costs while investing in infrastructure and customer service improvements.

speaking of climate, RiEnergy is pillaging the wallets of your constituents. we need a state-run power utility, preferably wind/nuclear/solar in some combination, so that RI Energy can be ejected and people no longer overcharged for necessities like heat and power. power to the people, owned BY them
