It seems that Ryanair Flight RK596 didn't quite make it to Edinburgh from Stansted because of the wind, ended up back in Stansted.
There were rumours that it may have been diverting toward Cologne in Germany at one point!

FlightRadar24 website showing the track of a flight from Stansted to Edinburgh, forced to abort a landing in Edinburgh due to storm force winds, and having to return all the way back to Stansted. The track shows the normal flight path up England and into Scotland, with several circles around Edinburgh showing where it attempted to land followed by a flight path which took it out of Scotland back into England, and out over the North Sea over Yorkshire before returning to Stansted crossing back over East Anglia

Can the mighty @that-girl-atco.bsky.social explain what has occurred here? Why would RK596 have been cleared to EDI from STN given the weather conditions in Scotland & why divert to CGN? Flights are departing Newcastle so why not try there or back to STN or even LGW. There'll be a very good reason.
