yoda is an instrumental character in ESB who gets a glorified cameo in ROTJ because Lucas wasn't the biggest fan of Yoda and they basically had to insert a Yoda scene at the last minute. Hell, Vader doesn't even start out as Luke's father!

Hey, #Disney - all the Skywalkers are dead now, if you hadn't noticed, and ROTJ-era Luke was an unfuckable bore so unless we're getting a story that starts with a flashback of him walking out of the local sperm donation clinic on Ahch-To, then no, stop it.

If places like here and Twitter existed in the ESB and ROTJ days both Irvin Kershner and Richard Marquand would have gotten a similar response to what Watts has gotten,
Marquand in particular would've gotten a very negative response as many fans would've wanted Spielberg to direct Jedi after Indy

The only plausible very-early-childhood triggers for mine are the slave Leia bikini in the RotJ VHS set we had when I was very little, a movie I saw so young and so often that it sunk deep into my brain as something that always was.

Honestly, that was one of the least problematic parts of the movie. Sure, it'd be reasonable to assume one of her parents were a Jedi (or an Order washout), given that Force-Sensitivity is genetic (and has been so since at least RotJ)- but most Jedi/washouts *were* nobodies

Dunno. I enjoyed most of the post-ROTJ EU a lot. Luke restoring the Order and becoming Grandmaster, finding love and having a family with Mara Jade, Han and Leia's relationship surviving crisis after crisis and some truly devastating losses. IMO Those stories enrich the universe immensely.

The OT only became a trilogy when ESB's budget and schedule issues wrecked his life and finances and generally made him miserable despite handing the director's chair to someone else. It's why ROTJ is basically a revision of the original 1st script & has weird twists like Luke & Leia being siblings.

well no between RotJ and Force Awakens it was actually a time of guerrilla warfare between remnant empire terrorists and Leia's clandestine army that she had to form because the new republic decided to demilitarize after the empire because the sequel trilogy is fucking stupid
