It would be nice if there were a network of think tanks, media outlets, and advocacy groups as devoted to defending & upholding the public realm as the RW network is to destroying it.

What I remember is RW media relentlessly thrusting those edge cases into discourse and mainstream outlets -- most notably the one Ezra works for -- obligingly helping them do it.

I stole the above meme from someone a while back and use it anywhere I see media doing the bidding of the regime. Generally, it's rw media but if these other media outlets want to do the bidding of the regime they should be warned too.

Twitter, Facebook, (and soon, likely TikTok) are to this generation of media consumers what Rush Limbaugh was to his couple million of "dittoheads" and what Fox News was to more right leaning Republicans back in the day. But now there are fewer substantial outlets to leaven that rw propaganda.

I can understand why rightwing media doesn't get reaching out for comment. Of the several dozen RW news outlets that mentioned me or quoted my social media posts (negatively) as an SPLC staffer, two have ever reached out for comment. Several made factual errors, including giving me a promotion.

Vance isn't stupid; I think the bet he made, boosting the bullshit "reports say they're eating cats" stuff, was that 1) most persuadable voters don't want immigrants moving into their towns and 2) to debunk, media outlets would have to cover Springfield and how a kid was killed by a Haitian driver.
