#Radiators
The building was an energy pig - of it's time - I'd have to open the balcony door in winter because the radiators were pumping out a January inferno.

Inprincipe kan het zelf en onze hulp doet dat ook , maar ingaf ze tijd om te helpen bij het schoonmaken van de cv radiators voor winter .
En het tussendoor stofzuigen gebeurt nu gewoon vaker

What if electric cars went back to using ventilated grilles? I wondered before if they could use stock radiators or air cooling for their batteries. Could we put tiny wind turbines in the grille to help power the car? Or in a hood scoop like an old hot rod? www.slashgear.com/1833962/cars...
Why Do Some Cars Have Hood Scoops? Here's What They're For - SlashGear
Hood scoops are an easily recognizable sight on any number of vehicles, but their intended purpose may not be immediately obvious. Here's what they're for.

low-temperature panel radiators for onboard equipment

We looked at heat pumps but it wasn't as simple as swapping like for like. We would have needed new pipes and radiators too for it to work properly here.

£2 Supermarket Item to Keep Radiators Warmer and Cut Energy Bills
A £2 tin foil trick can reflect heat back into rooms, helping homeowners cut energy bills this winter, says Flooring Hut CEO Paul Brewster.

The spacecraft in The Martian had a pretty good depiction of this, it's intended to have a nuclear reactor powering an ion engine. I'm not sure the radiators are large enough to match reality but they are chonkers
September 29, 2026 at 5:14 AM
You're talking about heat rejection? Yeah for nuclear thermal propulsion that's not a huge problem, that's handled by the propellant. It's the same reason why chemical rocket engines don't need radiators.

Nuclear electric generation, OTOH, would need big-ass radiators

Maintenance guy decided tonight at 11:30 was the time to clean the pipes to prep the radiators. Loud noises in every single room in the building.

Haven't had as much time to do modeling recent so here's this doohickey. Also keeping a sense of scale with something that doesn't have visible windows is really hard. That being said though i do like the curie point radiators near the back. More to come this week most likely.

dang bro the gas company really let us accumulate $1200k before shutting us off but jokes on them our furnace died last year anyway we just have radiators now

If you want to get science fictional about it, should you arm your spaceship with lasers, you need to worry about radiators otherwise you’ll cook yourself as well as the enemies. And shooting off your opponent’s radiators is a great way to render them inoperative.
September 28, 2026 at 11:14 PM
yes propellant was the coolant, you then throttle back the reaction rate when you want to throttle less which, depending on engine design, might need some extra radiators
September 28, 2026 at 11:06 PM
NERVAs were designed by people who, unlike the space datacenter con artists, were aware of how things worked in space. The cooling systems and radiators are an integral part of the design, rather than being handwaved away as part of a stock pump-and-dump.
September 28, 2026 at 11:05 PM
Not melting the reactor is a serious concern for such designs. The radiators are a necessary component and if they fail you're going to cook the spaceship very quickly. (This is often neglected in "realistic" fictional spaceship combat)

You need giant radiators to dump the waste heat. The Discovery in 2001: A Space Odyssey (which is supposed to be a nuclear rocket) was supposed to have radiators in the movie but they were scrapped because they look too much like wings.

... orbit and can often be seen with the naked eye from Earth. The ISS consists of pressurised habitation modules, structural trusses, solar arrays, radiators, docking ports, experiment bays and robotic arms. ISS components have been launched by Russian Proton and Soyuz rockets, and American Spac

Apologies for not having a better first post of the day but

When u went to school, did they have radiators!!?

Was it for your whole time in school, or did they disappear by the time u went on to adulthood??

Suddenly reminded how radiators were prominent until middle school

we put glove on them♡

The one thing I don't like about the pending new house is that it has baseboard radiators. I'm already pricing how much it would take to rip those fuckers out.
September 28, 2026 at 1:28 PM
I would _like_ to homebrew some rules with exposed radiators and coolant systems so with hotter drives and less effective directional radiators you can still move stealthily, so you can move frigates and carriers around interplanetary distances, but I need to be able to plot courses first.
September 28, 2026 at 12:13 PM
Have you thought about electric radiators with a battery set up? More responsive than storage radiators. Rules on heat pumps in conservation areas have been changed but it may depend on whether you need significant external piping l suppose.
