One thing I think is neat about Hades Calculus is that by simply being very clear about its influences it's rapidly allowed everyone who reads it to come to a pretty clear consensus about its overall aesthetics

I fully understand why rahxephon is often dismissed as an evangelion ripoff. there are a lot - a LOT - of superficial similarities.
but eva helped both invent and codify a new, postmodern language for anime to convey information and themes. and rahxephon is very fluent in it. it's impressive.

All right here's the definitive influences on Gunmetal Olympus, as far as mecha stuff goes: RahXephon (mecha is haunted by something and strangely powerful), G-Witch (mecha and pilot are haunted by something and strangely powerful), 86 (pilot is haunted by something and strangely powerful).
