Barn Owls are one of the species that suffer the most rodenticide poisoning. We’re killing the best weapon we have against rodents w/ our inability to use proper pest control management. Help us change that by donating to our campaign #birds #birdsofprey #ratpoisoniswildlifepoison

64 years ago, on the 27th of September 1962, Rachel Carson's book Silent Spring was published. It handled the environmental harm caused by the pesticide DDT and the disinformation spread by the chemical industry. Carson managed to sway public opinion and even policy. #otd #history 🗃️

Today we keep on talking about Ixchel cause her story's the reason why our director started Poison Free Belize. For Sarah it was enough, she got tired of getting raptors, especially owls, with clotting issues

Just got back from installing another box at Blancaneaux Lodge. A beautiful lodge that is switching from rodenticide use to Evolve Rat birth control and going full Integrated Pest Management with barn owl boxes!

After months of care she went into a flight enclosure but we realized she doesn’t see too well, so we started training her to make sure she is non-releasable and sadly she will not go back to the wild. You can see how she can’t calculate the distance #raptors #birds #ratpoisoniswildlifepoison 3/4

And the most important part, the Poison Free Belize Educational Campaign that aims at educating the public about the harm rodenticides have on wildlife. The most ambitious project I’ve had the pleasure of being part of!
