Do know what disasters impact your neighborhood and identified your safe place in case of an emergency? Visit sf.gov/ReadySF to get prepared and when feel #ReadySF take a #SafePlaceSelfie where you and your family will safely wait out an emergency.
In the event of a tsunami evacuate the blue areas and head inland to higher ground in the red areas DROP, COVER, & HOLD ON Drop down onto your hands and knees, get under a strong table or desk if possible, and cover your head and neck with your arms. If you are not near a table, drop against an interior wall and cover your head and neck with your arms. During a severe storm, avoid unnecessary travel, avoid flood prone areas, and check in on your neighbors. During an air quality emergency, stay indoors as much as possible with windows and doors closed. Check on older adults and those with disabilities or medical conditions. During cold weather, stay indoors if possible. Keep windows and doors closed and use blankets or drapes to insulate windows. Use heating sources safely. During extreme heat, stay cool, stay hydrated and find a cool place. Keep blinds or curtains closed during the day and open windows at night if it’s cooler. Turn around, don’t drown! Avoid walking, swimming or driving through floodwaters. Just six inches of moving water can knock you down, and one foot of moving water can sweep your vehicle away. Avoid water that is in contact with downed power lines.
