1st at #allotment this morning .. no less than 2 #MarbledWhite butterflies (both males) flying in & out of my plot .. then round & round .. never at rest .. when finally 1 was tempted by newly emerged Field Scabious .. as was #MeadowBrown & even #Red-tailedbumblebee

And old male #Red-tailedbumblebee with a faded yellow bands on thorax & (earlier red) tail, tucking in to the Field Scabious on the #allotment
Note how he is notably more hairy than either queen or woker with long white leg hairs & distinctive facial hair!

Misty morning on #allotment but that did not deter the insects so after watering I just sat & watched them .. my favourite thing to do 😊!
Great to see the leafcutters are back in town, that is #patchworkleafcutterbee & as always discerning on choice of flowers; as is #Red-tailedbumblebee;

This lady does not care a jot if the colour of her nether 'tresses' clash w the table cloth.
It's tuck in or starve in the insect world .. as often & regularly as you can in their very short energy-zapping lives 🐝 & #BlackKnapweed is manna in June .. the very best!

While little #Red-tailedbumblebee drone was speedily parachute leaping from #Hawkbit flower to flower in the #chalkgreassland y/day, what looked like a freshly hatched Gyne, w her bright fire-engine-red tail, was feeding in a near-by 'Pride of Sussex', the #Round-headedRampion.
Hope he found her!
