Still true, and the part most people miss: sensitive = true only redacts CLI output, the value sits in tfstate in plaintext. What fixes it now is Terraform 1.10 ephemeral resources and 1.11 write-only arguments (password_wo etc), which never reach state. OpenTofu adds state encryption on top.

If the justice system redacts someone's name and personal information in a legal case, it's generally for a reason too, and unredacting information the courts have determined should be redacted is likely going to get you several procedural hairy eyeballs from any lawyer you might hire to defend you.
