This was fabulous: Play for Today: A Photograph - written by John Bowen of Robin Redbreast fame - a couple’s fragile domestic life is broken apart when they receive an anonymously sent photograph. Slow burn mystery slides elegantly into folk horror & keeps you guessing right up until the end.

Date night.

Of course for the part of Bluesky I see most, if the NYT had *really* wanted to cause Discourse they would have done a "100 Best Episodes of Play For Today" list that didn't include Penda's Fen or Robin Redbreast.

Ermmm… that depends.

Whiskey means you’re either Irish or a US citizen. So a “smooth whiskey” could be a 21 years old Bushmills, a Redbreast 12, a Woodford Reserve Distiller’s Select (yeah it’s a bourbon but they call it whiskey)…

You have Robin Redbreast and A Photograph, but there was third film in that loose trilogy - a drama called Dark Secret released in 1981. BFI have it avaliable to watch in their rooms.

These are gold. Thank you! Updating the list now. We're going to do a dive into TV folk horror for the podcast in the coming months. Starting with Robin Redbreast

So late with this today. How about these Mallards for #TheDivers and a #Robin #ForJanet, giving me the "What do you mean, exactly by: 'This isn't the all-you-can-eat buffet, fatso?'" #BirdStare for the alt.

And two more major losses, Nigel Kneale's The Road:
www.imdb.com/title/tt0362...

And the almost entirely forgotten Witch Hunt, predating even Robin Redbreast in it's depiction of a rural witch cult in contemporary Britain:

I'll return soon and do the 70s.

The last embers
Of summer
Give way to
The smoky #Passion
Of shortening days,
The fascination of
Misty amber
Half light,
When wild geese
Claim the skies
In perfect formation,
Taking flight,
And the robin
Braves frost and ice.

I live Redbreast, but because of shenanigans out of my control the 15 year old now is $130.
18 year old Jameson is now $200. I kick myself foe not buying 2 cases in 2011 when it was only $96 a bottle.

Some Irish tonight. Green apples and shortbread on the 12 and more of the same but with a herbal fruit cake note on the 15. #whiskey

Lovely shot AB. Just now I was quoting Keats's final lines of his poem To Autumn to our versifying friend Audrey in Oz @aud @audjde.bsky.social
"The redbreast whistles from a garden-croft …"

Even though we know no more of Keats' poem, every child used to know at least that line. I just had a look at the rest of it for the first time in many years and it ends like this:
"The redbreast whistles from a garden-croft,
"And gathering swallows twitter in the skies."
