Omega Sentinel Redesign 😡

So, friends will know Omega Sentinel, Karima Shapandar (whose name my phone now auto fills) is my favourite marvel character. I've been itching to draw her yet again so I was excited when this month's round of #redesigningxmen for @comicsxf was open to any character of our choosing. I was so happy that Karima became a more important character than she'd ever been during the Krakoan era. At the risk of sounding petulant, I was disappointed that the incredible set up of her arc didn't really account too much. With that said I'm not a writer & Marvel doesn't have to cater to me exclusively. One thing that I'm super grateful for is that so much work was done with her that will allow future writers to build from so hopefully we'll see more of her. As for the design itself, I love her @chrisbachalo bodysuit from Supernovas & altered it with a colour scheme & design elements of the other sentinels, in my mind she's updated her arsenal with the remains of Nimrod to become Omega Lesser, I also wanted her to look like a Gundum, as though her arms can take on a multitude of combat forms. Finally I wanna shout out @theposearchives who generously provided the pose reference for her & @rbsilva_comics who designed the alert effects in HoxPox that I've featured here. (I think that's everyone?) If you've read this far thank you & please check out the other artists sharing their work, they're incredibly talented.

Happy to reveal my Karma design for this month's #redesigningxmen round, the theme was ofc The Hellfire Gala given Rivals & the upcoming ritual. Please check out everyone's excellent art.

A young Asian woman with an asymmetric bob in a revealing off white outfit. She wears a low cut bodice, a heavy textured, baggy bolero & short, tight, low rise leggings with an asymmetric hip cut out. The outfit is decorated with geometric shapes referencing the character's power signature. She notably has an ornate prosthetic leg with designer black heels. Further notes: With Krakoa may be gone for now but the annual Hellfire Gala is still warmly remembered & a source of inspiration for many of us in the fandom. With The Gala being featured in Marvel Rivals & being remembered in the Upcoming Hellfire Vigil, some of us designed looks for characters we love. I chose Karma aka Xuan Coa Man, an often overlooked character who I wanted to give a new look. I pulled from various fashion references to give her an asymmetric look that I hope flatters her. Couple of shout outs: Sam Johnstone did an excellent design for Karma which definitely influenced the direction I took the design in, particularly in regards to her prosthetic. Which leads me to Alleles , a company that designs beautifully ornate prosthetic covers who I've referenced before, you can actually buy this exact cover if you like it. Finally, for the face ref I based her on Vietnamese singer Toc Tien who I'm now obsessed with. Sorry for the text dump, please check out everyone else's gorgeous designs.
