Still want the referedum to be pro Canada by a landslide.

I can't help but believe that those 80% of Quebecers who said they wanted to stay in Canada lied to the rest of us.

Their newly elected premier is set to start the same referedum as in Alberta to separate.

It's what they voted for...they want to separate! They can't cry foul or deny it.

Watching Québec shoot itself in the foot tonight makes me wonder if David Eby in B.C. should’ve waited.

The choices people will make out of spite are mind-blowing.

Sometimes the protest vote ends up protesting your own interests. 🤦🏽‍♂️

I see. Yes I guess that's consistent with this recent comment. Still, if the worry is also the disruption of the pre-referedum period - which it is for me - that's cold comfort:

Met pijn in mijn hart heb ik afgelopen week mijn lidmaatschap van GroenLinks als samenwerking in PRO opgezegd.

De reden, dat de vraag ter aansluiting in het EU parlement niet het referedum tot fusie direct was opgenomen, maar kwam als boter na de maaltijd. Hierdoor werd het duidelijk dat GL...

Peter, I voted remain in the EU Referedum. I would love the UK to rejoin the EU as soon as possible. The UK is stronger being part of a bloc of countries. 🇬🇧🇪🇺
The latest @yougov.co.uk tracker data shows that 59% of Britons support rejoining the EU, and 73% support a closer relationship

Only 30% support the status quo, and just 16% want to loosen ties further

#GlobalNews: you got 'punked' by #DanielleSmith.

She wasn't emotional about wanting #Albertans to stay in #Canada! If she were, she would cancel the referedum.

Listen to when she becomes 'fake emotional'; when the #narcissist Smith says that 'some Albertans wonder if Canada wants us here.'
Setup!
Danielle Smith makes emotional plea for Albertans to reject separation, citing progress with Ottawa

Heya #albertans and fellow #canucks!
I went through the referedum and explained it and the questions fairly quickly!
Should watch the video.
We broke 300 views on it!

Hey yo!
Albertans! I got a new youtube video up, letting you know about the referendum, going through each question, and talking about each one shortly! Less than 20 minutes of your time!

these accusations, 5 weeks before a referedum to be run by Elections Alberta, cast serious concerns about the organizations ability/desire to run a free and fair process.

We need the legislature to be called and a debate to occur.

Water Not Coal has released a copy of a letter with concerns about Elections Alberta, including...

- 2 directors being fired without cause
- Multiple changes to how their petition was being verified mid process
- A service manager & 4 supervisors quitting with concerns the process was compromised.

The Brexit referedum was technically non-binding.
However the Cameron government promised to implement the result.

Having lived through two Quebec sovereignty plebiscites in 1980 and 1995, I find the whole process distasteful and disgraceful.
Including the muddy mess that Alberta's causing.

I voted remain in the EU Referedum. I wish the UK never left the EU. I would love the UK to rejoin the EU as soon as possible. The UK is stronger acting within a bloc of countries within the EU than being alone and weak. 🇬🇧🇪🇺
In the face of Trump's tariffs and turbulence, Canada is building a unique relationship with the EU.

The EU is the UK's closest partner. EU membership is a no-brainer.

The reason this is happening is because the Good Friday Agreement between the UK and Ireland says the UK Home Secretary *will* hold a referedum on Irish Reunification if it seems likely to pass. Currently, a majority in Northern Ireland are in favour, but the Home Secretary is refusing to call one.

sorry its clegg, whole career has been giving a vener of morality to immoral people. Osborne never hid his views. Clegg sold out his whole party for a non job and the promise of a referedum on PR (which had no hope with the backing of 1 of the big parties) then went to work for facebook

Ive explained to Niall dozens of times you win a rejoin referedum on the broadest based coalition possible (indeed thats literally how ALL refendums are won) - but no he keeps banging on about the Euro which UK wont qualify to join before 2040 at earliest when most older voters will be dead.
September 5, 2026 at 12:07 PM
One could be a protest vote. Or an act of rebellion.

The referedum was advisory. People trusted parliament to make the right decision.

My Iceland EU referedum hot take is that it isn’t such a loss for us in the EU. They would have lobbied against fisheries protection. The economy is growing on international luxury tourism.

It’s not the most advanced Nordic country in climate mitigation and environmental governance.

This is not new.
Canadians, including Albertans, have clearly shown those assholes wont win.
Smith is likely in her last term in office, and the referedum idiot is currently in court.
Canadians are not Americans. The right wing cannot rely on stupidity in Canada.

VOTE BY MAIL IN BALLOTS.

You avoid the long lines that are expected, and you give less organized voters a chance to vote on referedum day.

We need a BIG turnout to slap down this traitorous nonsense and get on with building Canada.
Quote: "... due to uncertainty about how long lineups to vote will be, coupled with Elections Alberta still looking for support to carry out the referendum, [Lori Williams is] unsurprised to see surging interest to vote by mail." 🗳

It's why I ordered one.

Andy Burnham is right: the UK must be bolder in building a closer relationship with the EU.

That ambition is welcome. Now the UK–EU summit must deliver meaningful progress on trade, youth mobility and our shared security.

Britain’s future is stronger with Europe.
