I wouldn't phrase this as "refusal to show grace to opponents," I would phrase it as "refusal to suffer fools or entertain foolishness," and I actually think it's one of his greatest strengths and positive differentiators.
Sometimes you dodge many bullets only to run into other bullets. AES is an extremely talented politician. His defense of religious freedom in the “Tommy” confrontation was fantastic. His danger zone is a reluctance to show grace to opponents.

I hear a lot of “refusal is privileged/out of touch” and undermining refusal as a movement by nitpicking anyone/everyone’s reasons for or language of refusal. They aren’t good arguments but they have the momentum of the industry behind them

Miller is also the one most likely to push for a coup of some kind, refusal to accept transitions etc
while promoting miller feels like the last gasp of a dying administration, it's extremely scary to consider the amount of harm he can do to immigrants in the very short term. he is still very powerful.

I think what a lot of people receive as a "refusal to show grace to opponents" is actually their own refusal or inability to recognize the grace he has shown, which may or may not be a reflection of their own reflexive identification with his opponents and/or their bad faith tactics.
