What kind of local government do we need for our children’s future is the question Zack Polanski asks. Not how can we use regionalization to save money? That’s the difference between Green and the rest

Where does pattern come from inside cells? in this revised preprint, @aralbright.bsky.social
Shows that regionalization of mRNA in a Stentor cell depends on dynein motors and the microtubule cytoskeleton

One of the answers to this is the regionalization of the GOP, which had a lot to do with education. When I joined, Massachusetts had a GOP senator (who was Black), and a strong tradition of moderate republicanism.
The party is now heavily a Southern/Western party. Tectonic movement.
As an Aussie, and as someone who listens to you on the Bulwark with much respect… I’d like to know how republicans let fascists take over your party… how did you let that happen? And you can’t blame democrats as they have no control over your party, only republicans can answer for that!

[1/n] Our preprint-in-progress on RNA regionalization in Stentor is no longer in progress! Now @pnas.org 🥳

Turns out a single cell isn't a homogenous soup… it has molecular geography, including things like regionalized transcription factors. Think bicoid, but in a ciliate.

The molecular mechanisms that produce cell structure are poorly understood. The giant ciliate Stentor coeruleus is a unicellular model organism who...
