This also perfectly sums up Lum and Ataru’s dynamic!

Yes, Ataru fantasy has multiple versions of Ran, multiple Kyoko Otonashi's (Maison Ikkoku) doing the Can Can, Kozue (Maison Ikkoku), Elle (Movie 1) and Maris the Chojo (Rumic World One-Shot)!

Also if the screencaps look a little retro that's because I'm using the original Animeigo DVD to takes caps on my computer while I watch the Blu-ray on my PS4!

Also...no, this opening wasn't dubbed. ALL the songs are performed by Steffanie and are in English even in the Japanese version!

You have Mickie Yoshino composing the music (he composed Chance on Love as well as the Galaxy Express 999 vocal theme for that movie!). Stephanie (Rock the Planet) does all the song vocals!

This is Animeigo's second movie that they dubbed (as Beautiful Dreamer was dubbed by CPM) after Only You. For an in-house dub of relative unknowns I gotta admit this cast REALLY did a pretty good job overall.

This movie is basically known mainly for being the best overall representation of the classic UY anime in movie form! With Akemi Takada providing the character designs but A-ko's Yuji Moriyama and Tsukasa Dokite set the visual tone.

Surprisingly this isn't the last time this show has an Alice in Wonderland themed moment involving magic doors and alternate selves.

Also on a final note this movie had Bulma cameo in the final sequence marking her first anime appearance and Dragonball wouldn't start airing until next year 1986!

This movie originally came out on January 26th, 1985 (Between Eps. 140 and 141 respectively). It's Kazuo Yamazaki's theatrical debut (he will also go on to direct A Wind Named Amnesia and the first SLAYERS film!)

Hey @digiranma.bsky.social have you noticed that the UY movies tend to get way more introspective and atmospheric? Like...they REALLY make you feel like you are in Tomobiki and seeing the passage of time despite no time actually passing.
