Tatsächlich eine echt gute Alternative! Bisher hatte ich immer openVPN/Remmina im Einsatz, bisher aber schon einige gute Erfahrungen mit RustDesk machen können. Vor allem End2End und eigener Relay/ID-Server bestechen hier.

#YearOfTheLinuxDesktop has gone well for me so far since installing on 1st January 2026.
It's met all the daily usage requirements so far. Handles SMB shares faster than Windows.
RDP feels like it's better quality in Remmina than mstsc somehow for my Lightroom server.

Oh dang, I'm able to connect my StreamDeck to my desktop over RDP, even using Remmina -- RDP client on Linux! Will work well for baking!

Remmina is not working great... It crashed on me and now it crashes every time I try to reconnect to my work PC. -_-
It's really annoying trying to search for "rdp client for linux" and I get a ton of results saying "remote desktop solutions for linux" that list things like VNC and Zoho Assist which are 100% NOT what I'm looking for. Jerks.

I think a $200 chromebook and RDP solution is probably your best bet, if the problem is that the terminal needs to be disposable.

Could use Remmina? it handles RDP, VNC, SSH, SPICE etc. Teams is just an electron app, there is a git repo for it: teams-for-linux. They have .deb/.rpm/.AppImage in their releases or the tar.gz if you wanna build from source. Just comes down to what vpn you use for work 😊
