renfaires may have the summer. but might I suggest victorian faires for the fall and winter. cramped market stalls selling mourning jewelry and snake oil. fog machines pushing the smell of coal and piss into the thoroughfare. smelling salts and seances and a parlor crawl.

I spent years doing Renfaires. The minute the last patron passes the gates and someone has yelled the traditional closing invocation(*) the clothes come off. Like, everyone strips on the fucking spot.

Absolutely love this. As an old white dude, I’ve been going to RenFaires for 30+ years. And one of the encouraging and uplifting things I’ve noticed about Faires is that they’ve gotten more and more diverse over the years. It’s now common place to see LGBT & nerds of color. I love it.

It's a good point. I am using the unique history of DnD, and Renfaires as a whole as a reference. DnD is part of the genesis, hand in hand with the Renfaires.
However, I don't play DnD so I also appreciate the TTRPG angle in a modern lens. I love writing my own worlds, honestly.
