Today's #RenaissanceShirt update.
Got the front opening hemmed and reinforced at the bottom. Now time to find some movies or a series to watch as I hand sew the gathering stitches for the collar and cuff ruffs.

#RenaissanceShirt, #NilsStureshirt, collar attached. Need to work on my gathering skills a bit, get some gathering stitches outside the stitch line, but I'm content with this. Need to clean up some loose threads, then onto attaching the sleeves and underarm gussets.

1) Ok, just slightly ridiculous. This is the strip that will become the neck ruff. It is 3 inches wide and 168 inches long. In the photo I'm holding it at the midpoint. #RenaissanceShirt

The shirt is directly based on one worn by Nils Sture in 1567, with modifications for my neck/wrist size

#RenaissanceShirt neck ruff update, how it started - > how it's going.

Have the 168 inch ( 4.26 meter) ruff gathered down to 17 inches (43 inches), now to finish the collar assembly.

#RenaissanceShirt, #NilsStureshirt update, working on sleeves, including felled seam. For those who don't know, a felled seam is where one side of the seam allowance is trimmed to half the width and then encapsulate in the other side so there are no raw edges. The outer seam on jeans is felled.

#RenaissanceShirt progress, the next step is to pad stitch the collar interlining to the collar. I'm using 2 layers of an 8oz (270 gsm) natural linen to provide stiffness and some bulk to smooth the transition between the gathers and the main collar body.

Ok, going to try to put the gathering stitches in on the collar ruff for the #RenaissanceShirt. Got about 2/3rds of the way yesterday before the first row got a knot in it.

15 feet of 3 inch wide linen with 3 rows of gathering stitches every 3/8th of an inch. This time I've got the strip stretched
