ShinyHunters claimed they hacked Resecurity and stole internal data. But Resecurity says the hackers only accessed a fake environment set up as a honeypot, with no real data or systems breached.

A statement apparently released by Seychelles Commercial Bank said that “no funds have been accessed”. The bank did not respond to a request for comment.

Resecurity told OCCRP that the bank made an announcement on the data breach after the dark web seller contacted clients.

The company believes the malware has been created by an APT group, but no other details are provided except that the malware was deployed in a failed attack at a Fortune 100 company.

A Seychelles bank is being targeted in an apparent extortion attempt after a hacker posted that they had stolen client data for sale on the dark web.

A sample of the data included clients’ personal details and account balances, @RESecurity said.
